Getting Motivated
Oh well!!
We all feel like that sometimes , we are just
not motivated to run ,reason your have just
lost a love one ,injured, lost your job or whatever
it might be, you are not alone .
It’s good to take a rest but not for lone, as
time passes you loose your fitness so it is crucial
that we do not wonder of for too long in our
downwards phase
The tough part is getting back on and running again,
here is a good example where a running buddy is
important, you can bet he will calling you everyday
because he needs you just as much as you need
him/her. One thing I do to get back on track is to
sign up for a major race, this limits my time and I
am forced to push my self and get my focus back.
Running is your mediation time it is your peace of
mind, we all work really hard all day and some of us
even has family that we attend to after , the kid the
home chores, all the running around ,bills to pay
it’s just a lot for us to do in an everyday
life.
The one thing you have and you enjoy is that 1-3
hours that you spend running every evening in the
park, I call it MY TIME. I will do whatever I have to
do everyday but all I need is 3 hours to be outdoors
doing something to benefit my health, so much of us
complain of the winter oh! It’s to cold and
when winter comes we turn on the A/C and still stay
inside, STOP!!! Go outside to your local park, take
your neighbor of family and do something.
When training for major races I always class myself
with the elites, I run as if I need to win, I train
as if I was an Olympian, I am untouchable. We runners
are the few who can be in the same event competing
with out icons, we run in the same race with the
world record holder, we meet them and they so nice,
even our fellow runners are really nice to us, it is
the nicest environment you will ever find yourself
into, such great sportsmanship.
You are apart of this community, you belong here,
pull yourself back and put those sneakers on.
My coach (Luthalo Yohance) back in Trinidad once
asked me why do I train, I was 10 years old ,I was
kind of struck back with the question but his reply
was we train so we can do something today we
could not do yesterday it’s all about
getting better and better.
Remember you are an athlete now, there is no stopping
you, we runners are addicted to running there is
something in it that keeps drawing us to it. Picture
your self crossing the finish line of your favorite
race and I’ll see you in the races.
