Dolphin Rescue at Montauk

Day two of Runn4fun.com camping at HitherHills state park Montauk. Friday 1st July 3, 2005. I woke up about 6:30 am just after another camping buddy (peter )left for NYC, I decided to take a morning walk along the beach when I noticed an object along the shore waters, at first when I was approaching  it I thought that it was a turtle but as I got closer and the waves crashed into it I saw the broad  site of it and to my surprise I saw a dolphin.
I realized that it was still alive and needed help so I rusher back to my camp site and call Arthur to assist with moving it but it was to heavy for us to do alone, he ran back to the camp site and saw another guy walking about and asked for help, the guy looked at him very suspiciously and asked him what camp site location he was on, Arthur was so confused then he just blurted out to him "man I just need help with my friend (runn) to help push the dolphin back to the water  eventually the guy came down, I think his name was Matt. He also brought a few other camp members who were surfers and we all pushed the dolphin back to the water.
After pushing the dolphin back to the ocean we realize that it just swam back to shore, we pushed it several times and it came back. I called 911 and the I guess dispatched a marine biologist team from Riverhead aquarium, after several attempts we left the dolphin and left it up to nature to care for it, it was in deep waters but was still lost in direction, it seem very sick but there was nothing we could do to help. We all probably ran over two miles on the beach trying to save it before calling it quits, later that day we heard that the biologist team did show up and took it to the Riverhead aquarium, which made us all feel a lot better. I did get to take a few photos of the dolphin so you can view them, please be aware that it is not dead but alive especially kids who is viewing.

I would like to thank all those campers from HitherHills state park in Montauk who assisted in the rescue, thank you.
